How Can You Help To Support Charities?
At RunActive we feel it is important to provide you with a selection of top-quality products including popular brands and local brands. Recently we have introduced two very important brands into our stores and online: Happystride and Monkey Sox. These brands both support two different charities; while providing you with an excellent quality product you are also contributing to a donation for these charities.
Happystride is a local brand ran by Sam and Pete Goldring. They combined their passion for running and desire to start a business to create Happystride. Their shorts are designed with crazy and cool patterns, from leopard print to avocados they are guaranteed to make you stand out on the start line! Their products are not only daring and fun but are designed with an inner short for extra comfort and zip pockets to keep your belongings safe. Every year Happystride contribute part of their sale to a chosen mental health charity. This year they have chosen My Black Dog, the only peer to peer online chat support in the UK. At Happystride, they believe that running and being active should be fun and enjoyable, so why should your clothes be dark and boring? With a wide range of patterns and colours, these shorts are guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step!
Monkey Sox- Sports socks with comfortable and functional features but, are also colourful and help a good cause? Perfect combination! Monkey Sox is a brand ran by husband and wife Lianne and James. James was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in July 2016, so they both decided to build an inspiring brand to contribute to the MS community. They have designed a range of striking socks made to be odd, mirroring how the body acts and feels different, left to right, for those living with multiple sclerosis. Monkey Sox donate 50% net profits equally to 3 MS charities. When I asked founders Lianne and James why they think it is imprtant to support non-profit businesses, here was their response:
"As a not-for-profit business we are proud to raise awareness of and fund research, care and lifestyle support for those affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
Their Sport Sox would make a perfect addition to your running kit, made with premium quality fabrics and a range of different patterns and lengths to choose from. There is no doubt you will get questions about these eye-catching socks, and when you do, you can share the Monkey Sox story.
Spread The Word:
When running in your Happystride shorts and Monkey Sox, make sure to post and repost your outfit on your social media. It is important we normalise both mental health and MS, with a quick snap while tagging @happystride @monkeysox_org (and @runactiveleigh of course) you can spread the word and create a safe and supportive community!
Actively Take Action:
More than 36,000 participants braved the rain to complete the first-ever virtual Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 4 October raising £16.1 million for thousands of different charities. Without the loud crowds and the famous London landmarks, there was no stopping those running to support their charities, as they endured 26.2 miles in the cold and rain. You can also take action and raise money through a, 5k,10k, half marathon or full marathon. Having a goal to complete your race can improve your mental health as well as raising awareness and helping those around you. A win, win situation! But, most importantly, make sure you are standing out on the start line in your running gear that gives back!
